“The ‘Kreutzer’…is an unequivocal success. Placing Radulović first among nimbly virtuosic equals, this dishes out a veritable feast of contrasting colours, textures and dynamics, one that far exceeds the remit of a simple transcription”

The Strad

“Radulović and Double Sens display remarkable technical command—flawless intonation and crisp articulation at any tempo. Radulović’s selective use of vibrato as ornamentation adds a touch of flair, and the outer movements bristle with energy.”

The Classical Review

“Similar care is lavished on the Serbian violinist’s arrangement of the Kreutzer Sonata…Radulović’s is an exhilarating ride, there’s no question. If you want to sample Double Sens’s collective virtuosity, listen to how they rip into the passage at 11’35” in the opening Presto, although I think I was most impressed with how Radulović shapes the Andante con variazioni, moving the first two variations along (one faster than the next) to set the delicate chiaroscuro of the Minore (Var 3) in stark relief.”

Double Sens is a charismatic and expressive chamber orchestra composed of French and Serbian musicians brought together by renowned violinist Nemanja Radulović. Under his visionary direction, the ensemble blends classical traditions with modern interpretations, creating a unique and vibrant sound. Known for its diverse repertoire, energetic stage presence, and the individual artistry of its musicians, Double Sens delivers captivating performances that resonate with audiences worldwide.

The ensemble Double Sens was founded in 2008 when violinist Nemanja Radulović brought together some of his favorite musicians from France and Serbia to perform together as a chamber orchestra. This unique formation is united by friendship and family as well as the desire to share music and has been performing on stages around the world for a long time.

Radulović says: “My music, my friends? My France, my Serbia? My life in the past and now? The idea to found the ensemble Double Sens came up thanks to these questions! I wanted to gather my Serbian and French musician friends and didn’t have to think about it for long, because I knew each musician personally and was sure that every member with its different personality would fit well with the others to form this ensemble, where the most important thing is the happiness of sharing the music and the stage with each other. When we first performed, we all felt the desire to continue making music together and to meet again as soon as possible. It’s been many years since we played together regularly, and we all can still feel that way. Can’t wait until we’re all together next time!”

Radulović and Double Sens have recorded seven albums together: The 5 Seasons (Decca, 2011), Journey East (Deutsche Grammophon, 2015), Bach (Deutsche Grammophon 2016) and Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations in an Original Arrangement for Viola (Deutsche Grammophon, 2017), Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade (Baika, 2018), and world music on Radulović’s album Roots (Warner Classics 2022). This album was also released as a visual album entitled Unique, which takes the ensemble to Carnac and includes further pieces by Bach, Vivaldi and some traditional and world music pieces. This release was seen in cinemas throughout France. In 2023 the album Beethoven was released by Warner Classics, for which Radulović was awarded the Opus Klassik, and again for the album Bach released by Warner Classics in 2024.

The ensemble performs worldwide, with current and upcoming highlights in the Philharmonie de Paris, the Opera City Hall in Tokyo, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Munich Prinzregententheater and the Liederhalle Stuttgart.
