\u201cChicago Opera Theater may be entering a golden age in its history…The company had its most successful season in a decade last year, with new music director Lidiya Yankovskaya…[who] continues to impress with every performance.” Opus 3 Artists is excited to welcome Russian-American conductor Lidiya Yankovskaya to our roster. She is a fiercely committed advocate for Russian masterpieces, operatic rarities, and contemporary works on the leading edge of classical music. As Music Director of Chicago Opera Theater, Ms. Yankovskaya has led the Chicago premiere of Jake Heggie\u2019s Moby-Dick<\/em>, which Opera News<\/em> called \u201ca highlight of Chicago\u2019s current season. Moby-Dick<\/em>\u2026gave Yankovskaya a juicy opportunity to really strut her stuff for Chicago\u2019s audience, and she delivered an electrifying reading.\u201d She also led the Chicago premieres of Rachmaninov\u2019s Aleko<\/em>, Joby Talbot’s Everest<\/em>, Tchaikovsky\u2019s Iolanta<\/em>, and the world premiere of Dan Shore’s. Ms. Yankovskaya has been recently engaged with Chicago Philharmonic and her upcoming debuts include Houston Grand Opera, Seattle Opera, Dallas Opera, Hawaii Symphony Orchestra, Opera Vlaanderen, Opera Seville, and the Glimmerglass Festival.<\/p>\n Ms. Yankovskaya is Founder and Artistic Director of the Refugee Orchestra Project, which recently performed at the United Nations in New York City and LSO St Luke\u2019s in London. She has served as Artistic Director of the Boston New Music Festival and Juventas New Music Ensemble, and Music Director of Harvard\u2019s Lowell House Opera. An alumna of the Dallas Opera\u2019s Hart Institute for Women Conductors and Marin Alsop\u2019s Taki Concordia Fellowship, Ms. Yankovskaya has also served as assistant conductor to Lorin Maazel, assisted Vladimir Jurowski via a London Philharmonic fellowship, and was featured in the Bruno Walter National Conductor Preview.
