Alek Shrader has developed an outstanding reputation both for his beautiful lyric vocalism and his expressive characterizations. He has appeared with many of the world&#8217;s most prestigious opera companies and concert series. This season, Mr. Shrader returns to Opera Philadelphia for <em>Semele<\/em>, the Minnesota Opera for <em>Il barbiere di Siviglia<\/em>, and the San Francisco Opera for <em>Partenope<\/em>. He also sings performances of Handel\u2019s <em>Messiah<\/em> with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. He has recently ventured into the world of stage directing, making his directorial debut with a production of <em>Dido &amp; Aeneas<\/em> as part of the Green-Wood Cemetery\u2019s acclaimed performance series \u201cConcerts in the Catacombs\u201d. Mr. Shrader was the winner of the 2007 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and the recipient of a Sarah Tucker grant from the Richard Tucker Foundation.
