Thomas Allen and Anthony Roth Costanzo Among the Recipients of the 15th Annual OPERA NEWS Awards
Five Singers to be Celebrated for Achievement in Opera at the April 5, 2020 Awards Gala
OPERA NEWS EDITOR IN CHIEF F. PAUL DRISCOLL today announced the recipients of the fifteenth annual OPERA NEWS Awards. This year’s honorees — baritone and stage director Thomas Allen, tenor Javier Camarena, countertenor and producer Anthony Roth Costanzo, soprano Diana Damrau and soprano Ana María Martínez—will be fêted at a black-tie gala on Sunday, April 5, 2020, at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. A musical tribute will also be performed in honor of the recipients.
“Since the first presentation of the OPERA NEWS Awards in 2005, the highlight of the magazine’s year is our tradition of honoring outstanding men and women who have had a transformative effect on the world of opera,” said Driscoll. “These five singers are artists of rare accomplishment who have changed the way their audiences experience this ever-changing, exhilarating art form.”
