Conrad Tao and Caleb Teicher’s “More Forever” Wins Bessie Award
Caleb Teicher & Conrad Tao‘s imaginative collaboration More Forever has won a Bessie Award for Outstanding Sound Design & Music Composition. Set to Tao’s new contemporary score for piano and electronics with dancers on a custom-built sandbox stage, More Forever is a stunning and sensitive evening-length work that blurs the lines between movement and music. Through Caleb Teicher’s adventurous choreography, dancers explore the unique sonic potential of sand-dancing using American dance traditions such as Tap, Vernacular Jazz, and Lindy Hop. The piece is humorous and sentimental, whimsical and heartbreaking.
Produced in partnership with Dance/NYC, the NY Dance and Performance Awards, The Bessies have saluted outstanding and groundbreaking creative work by independent dance artists in NYC for 35 years. Known as “The Bessie” in honor of revered dance teacher Bessie Schönberg, the awards were established in 1984 by David White at Dance Theater Workshop. They recognize exceptional work in choreography, performance, music composition and visual design.
