Praised for his “sterling control, and interpretive sensitivity”, Welsh tenor Thomas Kinch is currently an Adler Fellow at San Francisco Opera.

For the 24/25 season, his assignments at the San Francisco Opera include Carmen (Don José), Tristan und Isolde (Melot), Un ballo in Maschera (Un servo & Un giudice cover), The Handmaid’s Tale (Nick & Luke cover), and the acclaimed Kosky production of Die Zauberflöte (Erste geharnischter Mann). On the concert stage, he makes his debut with the San Francisco Ballet, singing Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde. Thomas also recently performed in the concert The Future is Now: Adlers in Concert, singing arias from Beethoven’s Fidelio and Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana.

In 2023, Thomas joined the Merola Opera Program at the San Francisco Opera and performed in the Schwabacher Summer Concert where he sang excerpts from Otello (Title role) and Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (Walther). He also made his New York City debut with Teatro Grattacielo in Spontini’s La Vestale. During the 22/23 season, Thomas was an Associate Artist with the Welsh National Opera, performing in The Magic Flute (First Armed Man) and Janáček’s The Makropulos Affair (Vitek cover).

In 2021 and 2022 Thomas was an Emerging Artist in Dolora Zajick’s Institute for Young Dramatic Voices. In 2021 he was a New Generation Artist with Iford Arts, performing in their double bill of Cavalleria Rusticana/Pagliacci (Canio/Turiddu). Additional operatic highlights include Madame Butterfly (Pinkerton), La traviata (Alfredo), Tosca (Cavaradossi), Gianni Schicchi (Gerrardo), Street Scene (Sam Kaplan), and Dead Man Walking (Father Grenville).

Thomas holds a Bachelor of Music with Honors, Master of Music in Vocal Performance, and Master of Music in Opera Studies from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
