Jennifer Koh enchanted again as a soloist of the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra

Jennifer Koh

Translated from Finnish

"Jennifer Koh, an American violinist in love with Finnish music, returned as a soloist to the Tampere Philharmonic, where she had already appeared last year. Kaija Saariaho's violin concerto, which she presented last year, was a surprisingly short journey to Esa-Pekka Salonen's violin concerto at the Tampere Biennale. As if the works were a couple. Already in Saariaho, Koh amazed with her play with intangible lightness and delicate sound. Salonen's concerto has the same ingredients. Especially in the slow part of the concerto, the movement of time and the perception of space are somehow replaced by timelessness. The finale offered a vibrant, free instrumental solo, probably Salonen's most touching and most personal music. Ms. Koh's masterful play created pure music, with ripping speed in repetitive patterns and fragile interludes of pure sound."
