Among the other notable events in the week just past, Matthias Pintscher conducted the Ensemble Intercontemporain in excellent performances of works by this year’s composers in residence, Unsuk Chin and Johannes Maria Staud, in the Lucerne Hall on Aug. 17. But his own piece, “Bereshit” (“In the Beginning,” 2012) — a sort of musical recreation of the Creation, taking its title from the opening of the Torah and its start from the note F — made the biggest impression.
